Essential Self Study Guidelines to be a CALL CENTER AGENT
As a Filipino, two main things one must possess to be accepted in a call center is fluency in English and his technical skill (computer literacy). Having this two is already an edge. But though you’re good in it, still you have to brush up some areas in speaking such as accent, intonation, pronunciation, voice quality, understandability and active listening. Yes, it’s not enough that you know how to speak the language. Callers or customers in a Call Center would probably be Americans, Australians, maybe British and some other nationalities. It would be a shock in an agent being on his seat and accepting calls for the first time. There would be some training upon accepting you but then it’s appropriate that one should be ready, before you know that your dream job is a nightmare when you get into the position.
So here are some basic tips on how you can be.
· Read any English article, book or newspaper aloud, one to two hours for your tongue to get comfortable in speaking. Read everyday at least one hour.
· Watch DVD movies and access the subtitle language, put it in English language so you could practice hearing at the same time you read and learn the use of words.
Talk often to people in English.
Much better if they are native in English speaking, could be American. Find friends in Yahoo Messenger or Skype or AOL. Have a conversation and be a good conversationalist. · Write. Try yourself making an essay. Write anything that comes in your mind just to practice. It doesn’t need for you to have perfect grammar and good sequence of your writings, later on in the end you’ll develop and you’ll amaze yourself also of your achievement. · Practice Typing, of speed at least 35 word per minute.
